If there’s one thing I’ve seen in my years as an athlete and coach, it’s that mid-season fatigue can sneak up on anyone. I remember my college days—balancing field hockey and softball, along with my goal of getting into physical therapy grad school. The grind felt never-ending, from 6 a.m. practices to long games and relentless travel.
Now, I see my kids living this same cycle. With junior hockey and year-round softball and field hockey, their schedules are intense. While the demands might look different for each athlete, one thing is clear: mid-season fatigue is real, and it’s not just physical—it’s mental too.
